Hengan International announces death of chairman
Hygiene products maker Hengan International Group Co. Ltd. (1044.HK) announced on Wednesday that its co-founder and executive Chairman Sze Man Bok passed away on Sept. 29. It did not give his age or a cause of his death.
Hengan noted that Sze had “devoted his full efforts” to directing the company until recently, but added the board believes his death won’t have any impact on operations. In another filing on Wednesday, it listed CEO Hui Ching Lau as its acting chairman.
Hengan, whose two main products are diapers and sanitary napkins, reported revenue of 11.1 billion yuan ($1.65 billion) for the first half of 2026, down 6.1% year-on-year. Its profit for the period fell 8.7% to 1.25 billion yuan.
The company’s stock rose 0.1% on Wednesday morning to close at HK$19.65 by the midday break. The stock is down about 30% this year.
