CATL reports strong growth, announces major buyback for Shenzhen stock

Electric vehicle battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co. Ltd. (CATL)(3750.HK; 300750.SZ) said on Sunday that its revenue rose 54.8% year-over-year to 277 billion yuan ($40.89 billion) in the first half of 2026, while its profit for the period increased 42% to 43.3 billion yuan. The company said shareholders of its Shenzhen-listed stock will receive a cash dividend of 114.11 yuan for every 10 shares held, and holders of its Hong Kong stock will receive HK$16.29 for every 10 shares.
The company also launched the largest buyback in history for a company listed in Shenzhen or Shanghai, authorizing the repurchase of 20 billion yuan to 40 billion yuan worth of its Shenzhen-listed stock through centralized bidding at a maximum price of 573 yuan per share.
Among its major business segments, revenue from the company’s power battery systems reached 192.1 billion yuan, up 46% year-over-year. Its energy storage battery system revenue surged 87.5% year-over-year to 53.26 billion yuan, while revenue from battery materials, recycling and mineral resources climbed 67% year-over-year to 18.8 billion yuan.
Shares of CATL opened up 3% at HK$640 on Monday. The stock has more than doubled since its listing in May last year.
