Hony Media makes robotics foray with new joint venture

Hony Media Group Ltd. (0419.HK) announced on Wednesday that it has formed a joint venture with AIROBO PTE. Ltd. to enter the robotics platform operation business, broadening its AI applications beyond healthcare.
The new venture, AIROBO (HK) Ltd., is 70% owned by Hony Media, with AIROBO holding the remaining 30%. The venture has also established a wholly owned subsidiary, AIROBO (Chengdu) Technology Co. Ltd., in China’s Sichuan Pilot Free Trade Zone to handle business development, platform technology operations and customer service in Mainland China.
Hony Media said the move reflects a shift in the robotics sector from hardware manufacturing toward platform-based operations, creating new market opportunities. It added it intends to apply its AI algorithms, data platform operations and intelligent system development experience from the healthcare sector to robotics scenarios.
AIROBO PTE, a robotics technology company, is expected to bring experience in robotics platform operations and technology R&D, while Hony Media will contribute corporate management skills and market resources. Hony Media said the partnership will accelerate technology deployment, deepen market penetration and diversify its revenue streams.
Hony Media executive director and CEO Yuen Hoi Po said the venture marks an extension of the company’s AI and digitized operation capabilities into physical robotics scenarios.
Hong Kong-listed Hony Media said it will continue to focus on its core competitiveness in AI and digitized operations, while exploring further technological innovation and industrial integration.
