Electric scooter maker Niu Technologies (NIU.US) announced on Monday that it sold 465,873 units in the third quarter, up 49.1% year-on-year, on especially strong performance in China. The company’s domestic shipments reached 451,455 units, a surge of over 70%, marking its fastest growth this year. Overseas shipments totaled 14,418 units, exceeding last year’s full-year volume.

Niu’s total sales in the first nine months of the year totaled 1.02 million units, up about 46% from 697,706 units a year earlier, underscoring its strong momentum. The strong results were mainly driven by channel expansion, improved product mix, and early inventory buildup to meet China’s new electric bicycle regulations.

In July, Niu launched two new flagship models — the FXT Ultra 2025 and NXT Ultra 2025 — featuring improvements in range, performance, and safety to appeal to diverse consumer preferences.

Following the announcement, the company’s stock jumped 23.01% on Monday in New York, closing at $5.56. The stock has more than tripled this year.
