Macao’s gaming revenue falls 10% in October as Golden Week loses its luster

Macao’s gaming revenue fell 10% year-over-year in October to 21.68 billion patacas ($2.69 billion), marking a fifth consecutive month of contraction, according to data published by the city’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau on Sunday. While the figure was down year-on-year, it was up 20% from September to rise back above the 20 billion pataca monthly mark, in a traditional seasonal pattern fueled by the weeklong National Day holiday from Oct. 1 to Oct. 7.
Macao’s cumulative gaming revenue stood at 208.8 billion patacas for the first 10 months of the year, up 1.6% year-over-year. The growth rate has slowed significantly compared with the start of the year.
The Macao government estimated late last year that full-year gaming revenue for the city would total about 236 billion patacas. Based on this year’s 10-month total so far, gaming receipts must hit at least 15 billion patacas a month in the remaining two months of 2026 to hit the government’s target.
