Optical products manufacturer Sunny Optical Technology (Group) Co. Ltd. (2382.HK) reportedon Wednesday that it shipped 119 million handset lenses in November, down 2.3% month-on-month but up 7.5% year-on-year.

The company’s vehicle lens shipments for the month jumped 69.4% year-on-year to 12.63 million units, which it attributed to stronger demand from customers. Shipments of spherical glass lenses also increased 13.8% year-on-year to 2.54 million units. Other lens sets, however, recorded a 33% year-on-year decline, with shipments falling to 10.64 million units.

Among its optical-electronic products, handset camera module shipments rose 10.9% year-on-year to 41.49 million units, also benefiting from improving client demand, though they dropped 7.8% sequentially. Shipments of other optoelectronic products reached 6.51 million units, up 7.6% year-on-year but down 5.4% month-on-month. Meanwhile, optical instrument shipments, mainly microscopes, totaled 24,116 units, up 22.1% month-on-month but down 3.2% from a year earlier.

Sunny Optical’s shares opened higher on Thursday and closed at HK$66.40 by the midday break, down 2.5%.
