Sweetener maker Newtrend Group Holding Co. Ltd. (2573.HK) on Monday reported revenue of 335 million yuan ($47 million) for the first half of 2025, up 54.3% year-on-year. Its net profit surged more than sixfold, rising to 24.38 million yuan from 3.55 million yuan a year earlier.

The company attributed the strong results mainly to higher sales of its core products. Its revenue from sucralose more than doubled to 152 million yuan, up 116.8% year-on-year, while sales of its food- and industrial-grade glycine rose 25.9% to 168 million yuan. Management noted that, due to high U.S. tariffs on Chinese glycine, the company has been supplying American customers from its plant in Indonesia, while its new facility in Thailand further supported its sucralose exports.

The company’s total assets stood at 1.13 billion yuan at the end of June, up 38.5% from the end of 2024. Its cash balance reached 250 million yuan, and its debt ratio fell to 39.7%. Its gross margin jumped to 23.3% in the first half of the year from 10.2% a year earlier.

Newtrend’s stock opened higher on Monday and closed at HK$13.19 by the midday break, up 1.70%.
