BIBEE helmet launches in cold weather

The Latest: A new cold wave in China should create demand for products to keep people warm, including the popular new BIBEE brand of LAVA-01 insulated helmets that focus on comfort.

Looking Up: The new LAVA-01 electric scooter helmets use LavaHeat, a German-based technology, to quickly warm riders’ heads in cold weather.

Take Note: BIBEE launched the LavaHeat helmet series to take advantage of expected strong demand from millions of Chinese electric scooter riders during the cold winter months. But the brand will still require time to build awareness among its target customers.

Digging Deeper: BIBEE is hoping to find success in the fast-growing China market for safety by offering the latest technology to keep users’ heads warm in cold weather. With the colder winter months ahead, the company hopes to imitate the success of big names like fast fashion giant Uniqlo, whose winter innerwear using its proprietary Heattech technology has been a hot item due to its innovative features including breathability and good heat preservation. BIBEE is deploying similar and equally innovative heat preserving technology, attracting attention to the helmet’s recent launch for its safety and unique features. BIBEE also believes its focus on mid-range helmets, typically costing between 70 yuan and 180 yuan ($10-$24) will have advantage over lower-end products as helmets in that price range rose from 28% of all helmet sales on the popular Tmall online marketplace in 2018 to a forecast 52.2% this year.
