Telecoms equipment maker AsiaInfo Technologies Ltd. (1675.HK) said on Monday it launched an embodied intelligence laboratory with ABB Robotics over the weekend, calling the step a practical implementation of a strategic cooperation between the pair.

The Sunday launch ceremony was attended by representatives from Alibaba Cloud and Nvidia, which will both provide technical support for the project, AsiaInfo said.

“The laboratory will integrate the leading strengths of AsiaInfo in AI applications, 5G-A communication technology and cyber security as well as the leading strengths of ABB Robotics in robot control, with a focus on cutting-edge areas such as industrial simulation and physical AI that (is) based on the vision-language-action (VLA) large model of Alibaba Cloud and the simulation platform of Nvidia,” it said.

AsiaInfo shares initially jumped more than 3% after the announcement, but later gave back most of the gains and closed up 0.9% on Monday. The stock is up about 50% over the last year.
