Li Ning Co. Ltd. (2331.HK) has secured rights as the official sportswear partner with the Chinese Olympic Committee for the 2025–2028 period, the Shanghai United Assets and Equity Exchange announced on Wednesday. The move marks the return of the brand, founded by former Olympic gold medalist Li Ning, as China’s official sportswear sponsor after a 20-year hiatus.

Li Ning previously sponsored the Chinese Olympic delegation for four consecutive Olympic Games from 1992 to 2004. But from 2009, rival Anta Sports (2020.HK) took over the sponsorship for 16 years before being replaced by Li Ning this year. Since 2019, Anta has also been an official sportswear supplier for the International Olympic Committee, with a contract running through 2027.

According to the Chinese Olympic Committee’s website, official partners provide financial, material, and service support for China’s Olympic programs and delegations. They also enjoy exclusive rights for specific products and services. Competition attire and podium uniforms represent some of the opportunities for brand exposure on the Olympic stage.

Following the announcement, Li Ning’s stock opened 1.19% higher on Thursday, and rose in the morning session before closing up 2.64% at HK$15.56 at the midday break.
