Macao’s gross gaming revenue totaled 21.06 billion patacas ($2.6 billion) in June, up 19% year-on-year though slipping 0.6% from May, the city’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau said on Tuesday. The figure brought the city’s gaming revenue to 118.8 billion patacas for the first half of this year, up 4.4% year-on-year.

The year got off to a shaky start as Macao’s gaming revenue fell 5.6% year-on-year in January. The figure returned to growth after that, but remained in single-digit percentages during subsequent months until accelerating in May and June, with revenue for both months eclipsing 20 billion patacas.

Macao recorded 228 billion patacas in gaming revenue for all of 2024. The city’s government initially forecast 240 billion patacas in gaming revenue for this year before revising that down to 228 billion patacas in May. The city reached 52% of that revised target in the first half of the year, meaning the annual goal should be attainable.
