Smart vending machine operator Qunabox Group Ltd. (0917.HK) said on Thursday it has entered a partnership with a member of Dubai’s ruling family to co-develop Holox, an AI-based entertainment and lifestyle platform.

Qunabox described Holox as “a next-generation AI platform integrating advanced multimodal AI, contextual reasoning and adaptive learning technologies with intelligent hardware, enabling immersive, interactive and AI-native gaming and entertainment experiences.” It added the platform will first become available in Dubai, and later expand to other parts of the Middle East.

It said Holox’s vision and technological direction “are broadly aligned with the United Arab Emirates’ ‘National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031,’ which outlines the country’s long-term ambition to advance AI adoption across key economic and cultural sectors.” Its local partner in the project is Shaikh Thani Saeed Thani Juma Al Maktoum.

Qunabox’s shares rose 8% on Friday after the announcement. The stock is down 60% this year.
