JD.com does e-commerce

Thieves stole thousands of items worth millions of dollars from a Paris warehouse owned by e-commerce giant JD.com Inc. (JD.US; 9618.HK), Caixin reported on Wednesday.

JD.com confirmed the theft and said that police were investigating. It said a media report estimating the value of the stolen merchandise at more than 37 million euros ($44 million) was exaggerated. The break-in involved the theft of more than 50,000 items, including smartphones, laptops and tablet computers, French broadcaster RFI reported on Monday.

The robbed facility, launched in January 2024, is JD.com’s first self-operated procurement center in Paris, purchasing goods from France and other European markets. It is part of a growing global network of more than 130 overseas warehouses operated by JD.com, as the company expands its reach beyond China.
