Transsion is a consumer company

Budget smartphone maker Shenzhen Transsion Holdings Co. Ltd. (688036.SH), widely known as the “Mobile King of Africa,” could launch its long-delayed Hong Kong IPO as early as this week, targeting $400 million to $500 million in fundraising, according to a report by IFR.

Founded in 2013, Transsion operates brands such as Tecno, Infinix, and Itel, targeting Africa and other emerging markets. The company has long commanded the top spot in African by unit sales, controlling 61.5% of the market on the continent last year. But its global mobile phone shipments slid 12.4% last year to 91.12 million units.

The company returned to revenue growth this year, reporting its sales rose 21.9% year-over-year to 35.43 billion yuan ($5.28 billion) in the first half of 2026, according to its Shanghai Stock Exchange filings. Its first-half profit jumped 46.2% from a year earlier to 1.77 billion yuan. The company noted that by executing a flexible product pricing strategy during the period, it significantly boosted the average selling price of its smartphones, driving overall revenue growth despite a year-over-year decline in actual handset shipments.
