INDUSTRY BRIEF: Macao gaming revenue rises 14% in first quarter

Macao’s gross gaming revenue (GGR) totaled 22.6 billion patacas ($2.8 billion) in March, up 15% year-on-year, the city’s Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) said on Wednesday, exceeded market expectation for 11% growth and up 9.5% from February.
The March figure brought first-quarter GGR to 65.87 billion patacas, up 14% year-on-year. The average monthly haul exceeded 20 billion patacas, topping 22 billion patacas in both January and March. Should the current trajectory continue, annual gaming revenue would not only beat government forecasts but also potentially outpace the total for 2025.
Macao’s GGR grew 9.1% year-on-year in 2025 to 247.4 billion patacas, averaging 20.6 billion patacas monthly. When announcing its budget for 2026 last November, the Macao government projected 2026 GGR would hit 236 billion patacas.
